Hockey

During the winter term, all children from Years 3 to 6 have a weekly hockey lesson at Bisham Abbey. This introduces them to the rules of the game and allows them to play friendly games amongst themselves in preparation for league games at a later stage.

Swimming

All children receive swimming coaching from a professional swimming coach at Court Garden Leisure Centre. The Upper and Lower school are taught separately and the aim is to have all children swimming by the end of the Reception Year.

At the end of Year 3 all children are tested to ensure the National Curriculum Standards are met and they receive their awards.

The older children (years 5 & 6) are also given the opportunity to have additional after-school coaching and take part in inter-school swimming galas.

Gymnastics / Agility

During the winter term the children use the indoor gym equipment to improve their agility and co-ordination skills.

Football and Tag Rugby

Football and Tag Rugy are both played at Bisham Abbey. Boys and girls are coached at school by Wycombe Wanderers. They play competitive football matches in the Spring term against local schools. Every year the teams take part in a variety of tournaments including Leighton Park and Wycombe Wanderers.

Girls play Tag Ruby developing their co-ordination, ball handling and tactical skills.

Netball

All the girls in the school are introduced to netball in Year 4. Those who wish to take it further are then given the opportunity to play in the 'High Fives' competition with other similar teams. In Years 5 & 6 the girls can start playing in the Maidenhead and District Junior Netball League at Kidwells Park, Maidenhead.

Skiing

Herries pupils went to the Wycombe Summit for lessons on the dry ski slope. They were taught in classes of no more than 8 children. Those who were able to ski also had the opportunity to take part in fun triple slalom race meetings between local schools and ski groups.
